Jim Williams has been an engineer for 35 years and worked in the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado, Arkansas, Louisiana, Colorado, North Dakota, Montana, Utah and Wyoming as well as internationally. Jim graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and started his career with Shell Offshore in New Orleans, LA as a Petrophysical Logging and Drilling Engineer. In 1984, he joined DRD Corporation in Tulsa, OK as Product Manager for WELLPLAN drilling and directional planning software (now owned by Halliburton).
He traveled to over 40 countries and has extensive experience in directional and horizontal drilling operations while implementing WELLPLAN in major, independent and national oil and gas companies. During his tenure, DRD opened an office in Aberdeen, Scotland, acquired the COMPASS directional planning software and eventually sold to Landmark Graphics, a subsidiary of Halliburton. Jim then moved into the role of Product Manager for the Gas Research Institute’s Successful Drilling Practices (SDP) managed by Oil and Gas Consultants Intl. Following this, he moved into drilling contractor, E&P operational and reservoir engineering roles with several notable companies in Tulsa including Parker Drilling, Latigo Petroleum, Cimarex Energy, IHSMarkit, Kaiser-Francis Oil Company, GroundMetrics, Equal Energy and PetroGlobe Energy. As a reservoir engineer, Jim managed the corporate reserves database for all operated and non-operated properties and pre-drilling, workover and completion economics. Jim joined Nitro-Lift Technologies in 2019 as a Chemical Engineer responsible for designing nanoparticle treatments on vertical and horizontal wells using nanoActiv® created by Nissan Chemical Corporation.
